Résumé

A quantitative measurement of target heating which was induced by propagating fast electrons (FE) using optical diagnostics in solid density targets was analyzed. The target was heated up to ∼10 e V after the breakout of the FE front. A radial expansion of the rear side heated was observed with a 2 ps time resolution , giving a high radial velocity decreasing with time. The results show the quantitative data on the dynamics and the geometry of the rear surface heating by FE energy transport.
