Résumé
Recent advances in femtochemistry of liquid water are reviewed. Basic properties of water at these time scales are described, and experimental as well as theoretical methods employed in this field are discussed. The following topics are detailed : real time probing of hydrogen bond dynamics, coupling between molecular rotations and OH...O motions, non-monotonic decay of transient infrared absorption and spectroscopic detection of privileged molecular configurations in water. A critical appreciation of proposed relaxation times is given at the end.
