Résumé

The improvement in the capabilities of the laser-produced plasma x-ray source for applications in the study of ultrafast transient structures was analyzed. A 10 Hz repetition rate laser system delivering a pulse of 25 mJ at wavelength of 800 nm was used. This beam was focused on a flattened iron wire with a diameter of about 50 μm. The lattice dynamics was excited using a second laser pulse and the transient x-ray diffracted signal was obtained as a function of the delay between the excitation laser pulse and the x-ray pulse, in the time-resolved experiments. The results show that femtosecond x-ray diffraction is a powerful method for studying ultra-fast dynamics in a large number of fields.
