Résumé
We propose and analyze a polarization interference filter, which consists of a classical birefringent stack located inside a resonant ring cavity. We show that in such a configuration, two well-known effects, interference of polarized light and multiple-beam interference, can be actively coupled, and that in consequence the performance of the single-pass birefringent filter, once submitted to the phase match between these two kinds of resonances, can be considerably improved. The general theoretical considerations have been given. The case of Lyot-Öhman filter has been discussed.
