Résumé

In Chapter 2 in this volume, Ranis and Gollin attribute the bulk of youth labour market problems in Sub-Saharan Africa to demand-side factors. In this chapter, we review the microeconomic evidence regarding the hurdles to better labour market prospects for young Africans. We argue that both supply-side and demand-side factors contribute to this situation.
