Résumé
The numerical modeling of both wave propagation and dynamic soil-structure interaction will be approached in this article by means of two distinct methods: the finite element method, and the boundary element method. The influence of spatial discretization on the simulation of wave propagation (both 1D and 2D) will be examined through incorporating the type of finite element (triangles, quadrilaterals, high-order elements). The numerical modeling of damping will also be introduced (Rayleigh damping). An example of wave propagation due to foundation vibration will also be analyzed by application of the finite element method. As for the boundary element method, the possibilities offered will be recalled, along with some results obtained from both 2D and 3D models. Several examples of dynamic soil-structure interaction (building, tunnel) will ultimately be discussed.
