Résumé

This paper is concerned with the numerical modeling of the large displacements of an elastic rod subjected to bending and torsion. The model, analyzed by variational techniques, relates the internal stresses to the objective measure of the strains proposed by Antman. The numerical method is based on an augmented Lagrangian splitting and emphasizes the coupling which appears between bending and torsion in the large displacements of a rod with circular cross section.
