Onset of the nonlinear regime and finite-resistivity effects for the resistive kink instability

Résumé

The development of resistive kink instability with finite-resistivity effects is described in nonlinear regime. The fixed dimensionless resistivity η and time-dependent amplitude A of m=1 mode which measures amount of nonlinearities in system are involved. The outer domain is ruled by linear ideal magnetohydrodynamic equations with small time-dependent amplitude. The magnitude of helical perturbation is important to determine dynamical time scales. When A becomes of order η 1/3, the nonlinear growth is determined for moderately low values of η.
