Résumé

Performance of a prioritized resource control scheme for the UMTS WCDMA downlink to support mixed multiple services is analyzed. The resource control strategy relies on connection admission and packet data scheduling on the basis of maximum base station transmit power and service class priority. The study aims at discerning the mutual interactions that exist among the services and evaluating the relationships between system performance and service characteristics. Conversional, streaming, interactive and background services with distinct QoS requirements are considered. Dedicated channels transport Real Time services with stringent QoS requirements while Non Real Time data handled in packet switched mode are transported on Downlink shared channels. The analysis indicates that service prioritization provides enhanced flexibility and control in meeting QoS constraints and results in better overall performance in the examined mixed services scenarios.
