Résumé

Persistently Luminescent (PersL) materials have emerged as a new promising solution in advanced anti-counterfeiting technologies. Due to their unique ability to emit light for a long time after ceased excitation, these materials enable multilayered security features, challenging to be replicated. In this chapter, the integration of PersL materials into future potential anticounterfeiting applications is explored, focusing on their distinct luminescent properties under various excitation sources, including ultraviolet (UV), visible, near infrared (NIR), and X-rays, as discussed the potential use of materials with different emissions, ranging from UV to the NIR. Recent applications of methods such as photostimulated luminescence, time-resolved imaging and multicolor emissions in PersL materials to achieve multilevel security systems for improved effectiveness of such authentication systems for anticounterfeiting are also demonstrated.
