N2 - We simulate a biological cell composed of solid density carbon illuminated by a high intensity X-ray laser with a time-dependent model. This first version is a simple model that neglects inverse bremsstrahlung absorption by free electrons, electron conduction or hydrodynamic effects. Atomic data needed for the simulations can be generated with the flexible atomic code (FAC) or the screened hydrogenic model (SHM).
