Résumé

Large-scale evaporation experiments were conducted on bare sand using an environmental chamber. Various atmospheric conditions and drying durations were imposed to soil sample. Both the atmospheric parameters (air flow rate, relative humidity and temperature) and the response of soil (volumetric water content, temperature, soil suction) were monitored simultaneously. The results show that the evaporation rate is strongly affected by the air conditions especially at the initial stage. The soil temperature is strongly affected by the air condition and evaporation process. The relative humidity in the chamber decreases during the evaporation progress. The volumetric water content in the near-surface zone is strongly affected by the evaporation process. The soil suction decreases over depth and increases over time.
